Default Stupidest Thing I Saw During Double Gladiator Points Weekend

Its that magical time once more. The Priest of Balthazar are giving away free Gladiator Points to those who achieve 5/10/15/20/25 Win Streaks in Random Arena and the noobs are flowing in from all corners of Tyria to join in the slaughtering festivities, bringing with them the exotic skill combination of their particular backwater PvE areas. In light of this momentous occasion I would like you, the players, to post your experiences during this event.

So far I've seen.

D/Mo
Using Smiting Prayers;
Spear of Light
Ray of Judgment
among others.

Ra/E
Using Beast Mastery/Fire Magic
Immolate
Meteor
among others.

Feel free to post your own.

How are those people supposed to get better when they are mocked and laughed at at every turn? That's why PvP is so off putting, it's impossible to be "new" to it. Did you help these people and suggest improvements to their build, or did you just 'lol' at them and call them 'noobs'?

Oh, I definitely suggested improvement, you know how they answered? By calling me a noob because I don't realize how l337 their builds were.

Running a high pressure beast mastery build. Pet and I get blinded. I ping that the pet is blinded. Monk cures blindness on me. Happens a couple more times. Same thing each time.

/sigh

I have become accustomed to setting my expectations low when it comes to RA. I just go in there when I am bored and expect my group to consist of 3 other people with frenzy and mending with nothing else on their bar, so every RA group just exceeds expectations or gets some good laughs. If you are not syncing it there is really no point to take RA serious. (just how I see it, doesnt mean that its the only way ra can be taken seriously)

I'll go with monk. He should do his job correctly and is therefore an idiot if he doesn't.

Srs pvp is srs.

This is where the problem lies, as soon as someone sees another person using a build they don't approve of because god forbid it's not on the almighty PvX, they involuntarily cause a failure by being an asshole and not (above) monking correctly.

It seems at one point you actually expected RA to..BE something and to BE taken seriously. How many years passed until the "Random" in Random Arenas part kicked in?

This isn't a flame at all, I'm just trying to figure out why so many players for so many years thought Random Arenas was supposed to revolve around their golden expectations?

Just had a Monk die on the upper level of Heroes' Crypt (the Old Ascalon map with the Obelisk) against four Rangers, then complain when we couldn't res.

Maybe if he'd died somewhere where there were walls and cover...

You, apparently.

This build actually was on PvX months ago, but got removed later, or replaced with another build, who knows. Still works extremely well in RA.

I'm pretty much retired from GW now but when I used to play I used to love RA.

None of this arsing about with TeamSpeak or getting groups just hit the button and go PvP.

It could be frustrating at times but it was also a great feeling when you got in a group that really jelled together.

High pressure pet builds are extremely efffective. I dont know about the one posted above mine, but i've been using one with great success for a while now.
You very rarely see protective spirit on monks these days, which just makes it too easy when you're striking for a massive unblockable hit of damage every 2-3 seconds.

You guys, all you need to win in RA is my IW build:
Me/W, 16 Illusion, Illusionary Weaponry and Frenzy. Works every time, guaranteed.

Bsurge ele with flare and orison...

The typical Defy Pain wammos x2.

Mostly every dervish i've come across will have no idea about PvP and train on a monk with stances for the whole match.

No resses, or aweful ressing x10.

It's all fine to stick up for the noobs who get rediculed by us, but we are well justified to laugh and mock them because they don't know any better and refuse to think their own build is wrong and just call us noobs for their own idiocy.

i had a massive argument with a "para" because he thought i can easily remove daze (i was monk). and that everyone should always attack monk because "he always wins when he kills the monk"... he then preceeded to say that round was easy to monk, there was a strong axe war, dazing para with cover and spike, earth ele with weakness, KD and blind and with a monk. my team had 2 warriors and this para.... keeping them clean, protting myself, dodging daze, watching for backline, all the time when not a single one of them was backlining them and "piling" on the monk = gg.

Exactly my thoughts :/. May be it's time for PvErs to derail this thread and send back the mockery? (or simply point to the numerous posts of PvPers saying that they play "lolz" builds in RA?)

I suggest that anyone that has a lesson to give to a newbie (I mean "newbie" not noob) don't create a thread on Guru but talk to the guy in-game instead. Unless you're getting a kick out of mocking other people ofc.

Well, I had a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing retard who apparently couldn't read in either trade, team or local that run away from the enemy when you get ahead by 1 kill with 10 seconds left of kill count is a good idea, and instead frenzying on a hammer warrior is smart.

The world is way too full of retards.

If I had a nickle for every player that responded to a polite correction with words "lol shut up I'm using an original build"...
